Exercise is great for you. But intensive exercise can cause free radicals that can damage your muscles. Coenzyme Q10 may help prevent that while improving muscle strength.

Exercise is one of the keys to health. Getting enough exercise has been shown to help prevent numerous chronic diseases. But very intensive exercise can produce free radical damage, suppress your immune system and damage your muscles. Coenzyme Q10 plays a key role in the production of energy, is anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. So, it could be just what you’re looking for.

This double-blind study gave either a placebo or 200mg CoQ10 to 100 well trained firemen who performed strenuous exercise for 2 weeks.

The men who took the CoQ10 experienced a significantly greater improvement in muscle performance, including load and repetitions and reduced exertion, or fatigue. They also experienced a reduction in markers of muscle damage.

This study suggests that taking CoQ10 could help you have more successful workouts by building muscle while preventing muscle damage.
