Valerian: Beating the Toughest Insomnia

Valerian is both the most famous and the most effective herb for insomnia. Recent studies have shown that it works beautifully in with some of the toughest insomnias.
Poor sleep quality is so common after coronary artery bypass graft surgery that over 50% of people who have had the surgery suffer from it. But when they take valerian, they fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer and sleep better.
People on hemodialysis also suffer poor sleep quality. Can valerian work for them also?
A double-blind study gave 39 people undergoing hemodialysis either a placebo or valerian root one hour before bed for a month.
Valerian was significantly better than placebo for everything measured: sleep quality, depression and anxiety.
These studies add to the accumulating evidence that valerian is no lightweight: it knocks out insomnia in even the toughest cases!
