This Vitamin Prevents Broken Bones & Keeps You Out of the Hospital.

Breaking bones is always bad. For the elderly, it can be really bad. This simple vitamin can help relieve the worry.
Breaking a bone is never a good thing. For seniors, it can be a really bad thing. Hip fractures, in particular, can lead to disability and death.
But something as simple as vitamin K can reduce your risk.
Vitamin K1 is the form of vitamin K found in plant foods. A new study looked at the effect of getting more vitamin K1 on broken bones and hospitalizations.
The study included almost 1,400 older older women and followed them for 14.5 years. If found that the ones who got the most vitamin K in their diet were a significant 31% less likely to break a bone than the ones who got the least. More importantly, it found that they were a significant 49% less likely to be hospitalized because of a hip fracture.
The study suggests that an ideal amount of dietary vitamin K is around 100mcg. That’s easy. You can do that with a couple of servings of vegetables. Great sources include dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, lettuce, cabbage, spinach and green tea. You can also get good sources of vitamin K in supplements.
This study suggests that something as simple as getting enough vitamin K can reduce your risk of breaking a bone and even of being hospitalized because of a hip fracture.
