Surprising Blood Sugar & Cognitive Benefits With Raspberries

Elevations in blood sugar, insulin and inflammation after eating is increasingly being linked to elevated risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cognitive impairment. This new single-blind study hints that raspberries can help.
This study included 36 overweight people who were between 55 and 70. They were consuming a meal that was high in carbohydrates. Each of them took either 25g of freeze-dried raspberry powder or a placebo.
At the half hour mark, the raspberry powder significantly reduced peak glucose by 8%, insulin concentrations and overall insulin response versus placebo.
Cognitive performance also significantly improved on raspberry, including visual memory, learning and spatial memory.
The amount of raspberry powder used is equivalent to about one cup of fresh raspberries.
This surprising study suggests that supplementing raspberry powder can improve blood sugar, inflammation and cognitive performance after eating.
