pine bark extract prevents free radical damage from exercise

Workouts are hard on your body, so your body could always use help. Here’s help!

Strenuous exercise benefits your body because it challenges your body. But that strenuous challenge produces free radical damage and supresses the immune system. Certain antioxidants have been shown to help.

This new study adds the powerful antioxidant, pine bark extract, to the list. Pine bark extract is loaded in antioxidant flavonoids known as proanthocyanidins. Twenty healthy men took either a placebo or 800mg of pine bark extract for 14 day prior to their first exercise trial and continued taking it for 2 days after. The ones who took the pine bark had significantly less free radical damage.

Pine bark extract is a great general antioxidant for anyone to take, but this study shows that people who play sports and go to the gym might be especially suited to this antioxidant supplement.
