vitamin D deficiency associated with COVID-19

The most recent vitamin D study was just published on October 27, 2020. It found that 82.2% of people who had to be hospitalized for COVID were vitamin D deficient.

The vitamin D deficient patients had higher markers of inflammation and heart damage, and they had to stay in the hospital longer.

Interestingly, a subgroup of patients who had been taking vitamin D supplements before being hospitalized had better outcomes, including significantly better breathing, less inflammation and less need for drugs.
