A Gourmet Way Not To Get Prostate Cancer

So, researchers in Japan, where mushrooms have a long history of being used medicinally, conducted a massive study of 36,499 men between the ages of 40 and 79. They collected information on the frequency at which they ate mushrooms and followed them for an average of 13.2 year.
Compared to men who ate mushrooms less than once a week, men who ate them just once or twice a week lowered their risk of prostate cancer by 8%. Men who ate mushrooms 3 or more times a week lowered their risk by an impressive and significant 17%. The power of mushrooms was especially strong in men who were 50 or older: an important discovery, since the risk of prostate cancer goes up drastically after the age of 50.
This study is the first to show that mushrooms in the diet lower the risk of prostate cancer: a simple, inexpensive and delicious strategy that men can add.
