Cruciferous Vegetables Cut the Risk of Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is tough to treat: it is one of the cancers with the poorest prognosis. So anything we can learn about preventing it is invaluable. A recent meta-analysis has provided some of that information. . . .

This meta-analysis of nine studies found that eating a lot of cruciferous vegetables is associated with a significant 22% reduction in the risk of pancreatic cancer.

Cruiferous vegetables include foods in the cabbage family, like broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kale, bok choy, collards, radish, watercress and others. Crucifers are one of the most exciting food groups for a number of cancers. And now you can add pancreatic cancer.

Other research on diet and pancreatic cancer has found that diets rich in fiber and antioxidants are important for preventing pancreatic cancer.
