Surprisingly, research suggests that omega-3 essential fatty acids can reduce aggression. Is it true? This meta-analysis set out to find out.
Science supports the idea that poor nutrition is linked to behavioural problems. One theory is that the link between poor nutrition and aggression is omega-3 EFA’s. And studies have shown that supplementing omega-3 can reduce aggressive behaviour. But how much evidence is there?
A new meta-analysis of 29 controlled studies of 3,918 people found that supplementing omega-3 modestly, but significantly, reduces aggressive behaviour in children and adults.
It found that omega-3 calms both proactive and reactive aggression.
