Cranberry Juice for Kids’ UTI’s Too

263 kids between one and six who had been previously treated for a urinary tract infection (UTI) were given either cranberry juice or a placebo for six months. The dose of cranberry juice was 5ml per kilogram up to 300mg a day. . . .

Only 16% of the cranberry group got a recurrent infection compared to 22% in the placebo group. The kids who were drinking the cranberry juice also had significantly fewer days on antibiotics.
The researchers concluded that cranberry juice is an effective alternative to drugs for preventing UTI’s in kids who are susceptible to recurrent infections.
