The Evidence Is In! Curcumin is an Important Antioxidant & Anti-inflammatory

Wouldn’t it be great if one herb packed a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory punch? One herb does!
There is tons of evidence that turmeric and its active ingredient curcumin are powerful antioxidants and very powerful anti-inflammatories.
Now all the evidence has been put together. A new systematic review and meta-analysis has looked at the existing literature on randomized controlled studies. It included 66 studies.
Put together the results showed that turmeric and curcumin significantly reduce levels of inflammatory markers, including C-reactive protein, tumour necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-6.
It also found that turmeric and curcumin are effective antioxidants that significantly enhance Total Antioxidant Activity and SOD activity, while significantly lowering MDA levels, which are an important marker of oxidative stress.
This large meta-analysis again shows the importance of curcumin as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.
