“Remarkable” New Herb For Asthma!
The number of people suffering from asthma is very quickly increasing. So is the number of people dying of it. In some parts of North America, the number of children struggling with asthma is four times higher than a quarter century ago. World wide, around 334 million people are struggling with asthma.
Several herbs have been shown to offer remarkable help to asthma sufferers. And now a new study introduces a new asthma herb: nigella sativa, or black seed. The researchers chose nigella sativa because, thy point out, it has been used traditionally for inflammatory conditions like asthma. . . .
This double-blind, placebo controlled study gave 30 asthmatics a placebo while 30 asthmatics got 500mg of nigella sativa oil twice a day for 4 weeks.
The study used the Asthma Control Test. The Asthma Control Test is used for people with poorly controlled asthma. Scores range from 5, meaning poor control of asthma, to 25, meaning complete control. Compared to the placebo, the nigella sativa group significantly improved their asthma control: 21.1 versus 19.6.
Blood eosinophil levels, an indicator of inflammation, were reduced in the nigella sativa group by a significant 50 cells/µL versus an increase of 15 in the placebo group: the researchers called this improvement “a remarkable normalization of blood eosinophilia.”
