New Use for Ginger: Preventing Heart Disease

Ginger has tons of well known uses. It is best known as an antinausea herb for morning sickness and motion sickness. It is also a great herb for osteoarthritis and painful periods. New research reveals that ginger is also a valuable herb for heart health. . . .

This study included 4,628 people. It found that people who were between the ages of 18 and 60 who used ginger daily were 8% less likely to have high blood pressure than those who didn’t. They also had a 13% lower risk of coronary heart disease.

When the ginger users were over 60, the benefit for high blood pressure disappeared, but, and here’s the huge news, their risk of coronary heart disease went down by a full 16%.

The researchers concluded that getting 2-4g of ginger a day is protective against high blood pressure and coronary heart disease.
