Drugs Treat Heartburn but Cause Heart Attack
Proteing Pump Inhibitors are drugs that are very commonly prescribed for Gastroesphageal Reflux Disease, or acid reflux. But this disturbing study found that taking them to treat your acid reflux may just be trading heartburn for heart attack. And that makes no sense! . . .
This study mined the clinical data of 2.9 million people. That’s a huge study. It found that people who take protein pump inhibitors–like Prilosec, Prevacid, Protonix, Nexium, Aciphex or Dexilant–for their Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease have a 16% increased risk of having a heart attack. Perhaps even more disturbingly, it found that they had double the risk of dying of cardiovascular disease.
There are way safer, effective natural ways of treating Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, like licorice (especially the special chewable form known as DGL) and enteric coated peppermint.
