Eat Your Way Out of Prostate Cancer!

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in the world. But there is mounting evidence that what you eat can reduce your risk. Now it looks like you can hugely reduce your risk!
Countries that follow a Mediterranean diet seem to have lower rates of prostate cancer. Is that just a coincidence? A new study suggests it’s not.
The study compared the diets of 118 men with prostate with the diets of 238 controls. They found a striking difference. The men who most closely followed a Mediterranean diet had a 78% reduced risk of developing prostate cancer.
The study found that men who developed prostate cancer ate less vegetables and legumes. They also drank more alcohol and consumed more dairy and meat.
This study is nowhere near the first to find a benefit to prostate cancer for this pattern of eating. Previous research has also found a significant benefit of eating more total plant food, total vegetables and raw vegetables and eating less saturated fat, animal fat, meat and dairy.
And, ladies, before you skip this blog, the Mediterranean diet has also been shown to prevent breast cancer.
