Factory Farms: It’s Not Enough, but it’s a Start!

California makes mandatory space for factory farm animals

Factory farming is brutally cruel to the animals and just as brutal for the environment. Surprisingly, it is just as bad for your health. Now the state of California has dealt it a big blow.

Factory farming is brutally cruel to the animals. It is just as cruel to the environment, and, perhaps surprisingly, to your health.

In the recent U.S. midterms, by a phenomenal 61% majority, California passed Proposition 12, which demands “minimum space requirements” for calves raised for veal, pigs and all egg laying birds: animals which usually spend their entire lives imprisoned in pens that don’t allow for movement. The new law also bans the sale of veal, pork and eggs from other states that imprison animals in cages that are too inhumanely small to satisfy California requirements.

The huge 61% vote shows that if you give people a voice, they will vote to care about the animals, the planet and their health.
