olive oil and Mediterranean diet reduce risk of erectile dysfunction

Viagra is the medical answer to erectile dysfunction. But it doesn't solve the underlying issues and has many serious side effects. Nature provides a better answer. And the answer will surprise you.

25% of men over the age of fifty are affected by erectile dysfunction and 52% of men over the age of forty are at least partially affected.

Viagra is the medical answer to erectile dysfunction. But, Viagra has several serious potential side effects. It frequently causes headaches and can cause abnormal hearing and vision. It can even cause loss of vision and cardiovascular events. It may even significantly increase your risk of skin cancer.

While Viagra has serious long term side effects, it has no long term benefits: it provides only temporary, episodic relief to a real problem. Nature, though, may have a better answer.

A study of 670 men with an average age of 67 found that the ones who consumed a Mediterranean diet that included 9 tablespoons a week of olive oil reduced their risk of erectile dysfunction by 40%. The olive oil was used to replace all butter. The Mediterranean diet is high in fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, beans and olive oil; It is low in meat and dairy and moderate in fish. It can also include moderate red wine.

The diet seemed to help by improving the aorta and blood flow, and the part of the diet that was most responsible for the sexual benefit is the olive oil. The olive oil also increased their testosterone levels, which also helps resolve erectile dysfunction. The researchers believe that the Mediterranean diet increased testosterone by reducing body fat: body fat can interfere with hormones, and being overweight can lead to erectile dysfunction.

The study was presented at the 2018 European Society of Cardiology conference in Munich.
