pomegranate supplement improves symptoms of menopause and quality of life

Traditional Persian medicine has long used pomegranate to help women coping with the symptoms of menopause. Now a newly published study lends modern scientific support to that idea.

The study was a double-blind, placebo-controlled study that included 78 women. Each of the women was given either a placebo or a pomegranate supplement for 4 weeks.

The women who took the pomegranate supplement had significantly greater improvement on both the modified-Kupperman index and Menopause-Specific Quality of Life questionnaires. That means that pomegranate was able to improve menopausal symptoms and quality of life for menopausal women.
