Right now, high school students all over Canada and the States are writing exams. Well, here's a study they may want to study while they study. . . .

One hundred and eight university students with average grades were given either 100mg a day of pine bark extract or nothing for eight weeks. 10.71% of the untreated students failed their exams compared to only 6.25% of the treated group. That means that taking pine bark extract significantly improved performance on exams. The average exam mark for the untreated group was 79.3%; the average exam mark for the pine bark group was 87%. A number of measures of cognition were found to significantly improve in the pine bark group.

Though promising, these results need to be confirmed because, although there was a control group, there was no placebo group in this study.
