ginger aromatherapy treats post-operative nausea

Ginger is the best treatment in the world for nausea. And now it turns out, you might not even need to take it: just sniff it! . .

Sixty people undergoing major abdominal surgery were given either placebo aromatherapy or aromatherapy with ginger essential oil. The aroma was inhaled for24 hours. Postoperative nausea and vomiting were measured on a 32 point scale that measured the frequency and duration of nausea, vomiting, and retching. The higher the score, the more severe the symptoms.

Scores in the ginger group dropped from 11.80 to just 1.14; scores in the placebo group only dropped from 11.57 to 8.91, meaning that the ginger essential oil worked significantly better.

So, ginger is so strong, it seems, you just need to whiff it!
