tongkat ali helps men with erectile dysfunction, low libido and infertility

There are three major ways men can suffer from sexual and reproductive problems. They can experience erectile dysfunction, low libido and infertility. Well, there is one exotic herb that may help with all four.

Tongkat ali (Eurycoma longifolia) is one of the most popular medical herbs in Malaysia. Its has many traditional uses, including treating fever, dysentery and malaria. But, as one of its popular names, longjack root, suggests, it is best known as a powerful aphrodisiac.

This Southeast Asian herb has traditionally been used as an adaptogen for general well-being. And it has been safely used for hundreds of years as an aphrodisiac. Now, researchers have put the studies on this herb together into a systematic review of its sexual and reproductive powers.

The researchers looked at seven studies that were published between 2000 and 2014. Two of the studies looked at tongkat ali’s effect on erectile dysfunction and found improvement in erectile function, sexual intercourse attempts, and sexual well-being. Two studies on infertility found significant improvement in semen volume, sperm concentration and number of sperm having normal shape and motility. They also found significant improvement in libido, sexual activity and satisfaction. In one placebo-controlled study, 15% of couples became pregnant.

The best research on tongkat ali is on low testosterone levels, as we discuss in Vol. 18, No. 11 of The Natural Path. The ability to raise testosterone levels is likely responsible for tongkat ali’s ability to boost libido. All six of the studies in this systematic review that measured testosterone found that tongkat ali significantly increased testosterone levels. All six also found significant improvement in sexual performance and sexual satisfaction.
