saffron helps insomnia

Saffron does a lot of things! And now we know that if you are one of the many people who fight with insomnia all night, saffron may be your herbal lullabye.

Saffron is still not much discussed as a herbal remedy. But it is a rising superstar. Saffron is valuable in a plethora of conditions, from Alzheimer’s to depression to heart health, reproductive health and eye health. Recently, anxiety, OCD and weight loss have been added to the list.

And now, perhaps for the first time, a new study has shown that this valuable herb can also help people suffering from insomnia.

In this double-blind study, 55 people between the ages of 18 and 70 were given either a placebo or 14mg of saffron extract twice a day for 4 weeks. Saffron led to significantly greater improvement on all of the insomnia scales: the Insomnia Severity Index, the Restorative Sleep Questionnaire and the Pittsburgh Sleep Diary.

The saffron was effective and safe with no adverse effects.

This study suggests that saffron could be a safe, effective naturally way of helping you to get a better night's sleep.
