okra powder improves blood sugar, insulin and cholesterol in diabetics

It’s important for diabetics to manage blood sugar and heart health. Here’s a new supplement that can help you do both.

This may be the first time we’ve ever written about okra: a delicious food and, it turns out, a valuable natural supplement.

Why is it valuable? When researchers gave 60 type 2 diabetics okra in a double-blind study, they discovered that it helped their blood sugar and their cholesterol.

At the end of the eight week study, the diabetics who were given 10g of okra powder twice a day had significantly improved fasting blood sugar, insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity. They also had significantly improved total cholesterol, dangerous LDL cholesterol as well as the ratio of bad LDL cholesterol to good HDL cholesterol.

This study introduces okra to the large group of herbs that are valuable for diabetes.
